Spectral Explanation for Statistical Odd-Even Staggering in Few Fermions Systems

چکیده
Odd-even statistical staggering in a Lipkin-like few fermions model has been recently encountered. Of course, nuclear binding energies is well established fact. Similar effects are detected other finite fermion systems as well, for example, ultra small metallic grains and metal clusters. We work this effort with the above-mentioned Lipkin-like, two-level show that can be detailedly explained by recourse to straightforward analysis of associated energy-spectra.

Odd-Even Staggering of Nuclear Masses: Pairing
The odd-even staggering of nuclear masses was recognized in the early days of nuclear physics. Recently, a similar e ect was discovered in other nite fermion systems, such as ultrasmall metallic grains and metal clusters. It is believed that the staggering in nuclei and grains is primarily due to pairing correlations (superconductivity), while in clusters it is caused by the Jahn-Teller e ect. ...
متن کاملRevisiting the Even-odd Staggering in Fission-fragment Yields
The even-odd staggering observed in the experimental fission-fragment nuclear-charge yields is investigated over a wide systematics of fission fragments measured at Lohengrin in direct kinematics and at GSI in inverse kinematics. The general increase of the even-odd staggering in the fission-fragment charge yields towards asymmetric charge splits is explained by the absorption of the unpaired n...
متن کاملIsospin dependence in the odd-even staggering of nuclear binding energies.
The FRS-ESR facility at GSI provides unique conditions for precision measurements of large areas on the nuclear mass surface in a single experiment. Values for masses of 604 neutron-deficient nuclides (30 < or = Z < or = 92) were obtained with a typical uncertainty of 30 microu. The masses of 114 nuclides were determined for the first time. The odd-even staggering (OES) of nuclear masses was sy...
متن کاملStatistical Approaches to the Even-odd Effect in Fission
Statistical approaches have been widely used for describing the nuclear-fission process. They were quite successful in explaining several prominent features of the global nuclide distributions and many other aspects, while there are controversial conclusions on the origin of the even-odd effect in the nuclear-charge yields. We analyze the ingredients of the main statistical approaches to the ev...
